Black Pearls - Tahitian Black PearlsBlack pearls are becoming the new fashion trend. They were originally made popular in the US through the marketing of Elizabeth Taylor's famous Black Pearl perfume. Tahitian pearls are the only naturally black pearls in the world. All other saltwater pearls and freshwater pearls must be dyed, irradiated, or otherwise treated to achieve this color. Few black pearls are truly black. They usually have a body color ranging from gray to dark gray and may have any overtone color including blue, peacock, green, red, and many others. All of our cultured Tahitian pearls' colors are completely natural. They have not be treated in any way to achieve their color. Our black saltwater and freshwater pearls have been dyed to achieve their colors. Akoya saltwater pearls and freshwater pearls do not naturally occur in a black color. In other words, non-treated black saltwater and freshwater pearls do not exist.
