AKOYA SALTWATER PEARLS The two largest producers of akoya saltwater
pearls are Japan and China. Akoya literally means "saltwater" in Japanese.
Overtone colors of saltwater pearls include white, cream,
rose, silver, and green. Saltwater pearl sizes range from less than 5mm to 9mm. Larger saltwater pearl sizes are possible, but less frequent. Saltwater pearls are more valuable than their
freshwater cousins because of their beauty and supply.
